In 2014, the year before she graduated from Estudio Corazza in Madrid, Astrid Menasanch Tobieson took a sabbatical year to work as an actor. In one year she acted in about 200 different projects. She played the lead role in The History of Swedish Democracy where she also participated in writing the script. The project was directed towards high school students and a collaboration between Sweden’s National Touring Theatre, Uppsala City Theatre and Västmanlands Teater. As the final part of her acting internship at Gothenburg City Theatre she also acted in In Anna’s Wardrobe directed by Suzanne Osten.
In 2013 she had a significant role in Pepita Jimenez at Teatros del Canal in Madrid, directed by internationally acclaimed director Calixto Bieito. Astrid Menasanch Tobieson has also done a vast number of smaller roles, working with directors such as Michaela Granit, Zeljko Santrac, Stina Oscarson, Olle Thörnqvist and Lars Rudolfsson. In 2008 she was part of the ensemble who performed ”Cosi Fan Tutte” at the Swedish Nobel Prize Gala.
Her experience in tv- acting is from working with production company Globomedia in Spain, with projects such as Aída. She has also been part of Madrid’s alternative film scene, starring in movies such as Orange Colored Days and Flor de Cactus, both directed by Pablo Llorca.
